The Racial Justice Task Force will present a new documentary film by Brenda Hayes on the life of Mary Lumpkin (1832-1905), an enslaved woman who inherited a property that had been a jail for enslaved men and later became a seminary for freedmen. The film includes interviews with African American women who are carrying forward Mary Lumpkin’s legacy. The film will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker and other speakers. Held in the Parish Hall and via Zoom.
