AAPI Heritage Month Exhibition Tour

The Racial Justice Task Force invites you to join a tour and discussion of Pictures of Belonging, an exhibition organized by the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles to highlight the lives and work of three Japanese American women painters. The tour will be led by parishioner and art historian Ann Yonemura, Smithsonian curator emeritus. Ann and her father were friends of Mine Okubo author of Citizen 9066, an illustrated account of her experience of incarceration during WWII. A discussion in the museum’s courtyard cave will focus on their achievements and the issues they faced as women and artists of Japanese descent. Saturday May 17, 12:00-1:30 p.m., at the Smithsonian National Museum of American Art. Meet at the G Street entrance at Noon. Sign up to attend here.
