Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: September 15–October 15, 2026
Each year, from September 15 through October 15, our nation observes Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the histories, cultures, faith, resilience, and extraordinary contributions of Hispanic and Latino people in the United States. The observance begins September 15 because it marks the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, followed closely by those of Mexico and Chile.
For us as Episcopalians committed to racial justice and reconciliation, this month invites us to do more than celebrate cultural heritage. It calls us to listen to the diverse voices and experiences of our Latino/a/x siblings; to learn more fully the histories that have shaped our nation and our Church; to recognize and confront racism, discrimination, and inequity; and to affirm the God-given dignity and worth of every human being. Hispanic Heritage Month reminds us that the work of racial justice includes both celebrating the richness of our differences and working together to build the Beloved Community to which Christ calls us. The St. Margaret’s Racial Justice Committee encourages the parish to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 by offering the following links and opportunities to celebrate, learn, reflect, and act:
