SUMMARY:From History to Conversation to Transformation: A Parish-Wide Forum on Race\, Belonging\, and Our Shared Future
DESCRIPTION:Following the release of Unveiling Our Truth: A Racial History of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church this past February\, the Racial Justice Task Force took a groundbreaking bold step. The task force conducted two rounds of focus groups – one for people of color and the other for the wider congregation – asking hard questions\, listening deeply\, and facing truths about our parish’s racial past\, present\, and future.\n\nWe will come together as a parish family to:\n\n\nExplore the purpose and process behind this vital research\nEngage with key findings – including challenges\, celebrations\, and emerging priorities\nParticipate in a meaning-making conversation that will guide our path forward to becoming a beloved church community.\n\nThis is not just a report out – it’s a chance for every voice to join in discerning how St. Margaret’s can more fully embody its call for racial justice in our parish\, Washington\, D.C.\, and our nation.

SUMMARY:Forum on Immigration
DESCRIPTION:In keeping with our commitment to welcome and inclusion\, St Margaret’s has drafted an Immigration Response policy outlining how the church and its ministries will adapt to the new challenges facing our immigrant clients\, neighbors and their families. This Forum will discuss that policy and will include a Know Your Rights session led by parishioner Chris Raleigh\, who has conducted such sessions for the AFL-CIO. The training is for everyone in our community – immigrant and non-immigrant – as any one of us may be called at a moment’s notice to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. The Forum will be held after worship on Sunday\, May 4 in a hybrid format. \nZoom Link \nZoom Meeting ID: 935 9524 6192 \nPasscode: 596538

SUMMARY:Hispanic Heritage Month Forum: How to Be an Unchanging Yet Changing Church in a Changing America
DESCRIPTION:Please join broadcast journalist and writer Ray Suarez in conversation with NPR Morning Edition host Michel Martin. Together Ray\, a life-long Episcopalian and 30-year member of St. Columba’s\, and Michel\, a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary\, will talk about the role of Latino and younger generations in the future of the church. “What is TEC offering young people\, especially Latinos?” Ray asks. “I believe we must be in communion with other people in a way that is more concerned with where they are than where you have been.” For more information email the Rev. Diana Gustafson. The forum will be available on Zoom at the same link as the service. Ray will be signing his new book We Are Home in the Parish Hall before and after the service. Read Ray’s biography. \nZoom Link \nZoom Meeting ID: 935 9524 6192 \nPasscode: 596538
