Companion Diocese Outreach

The Diocese of Washington is blessed to hold the people of the dioceses of Honduras in Central America, and with the province of Southern Africa as companion diocese and province respectively. Within this relationship, individual parishes are encouraged to develop symbiotic and profound relationships with parishes and/or ministries within the many diocese in Honduras and the nations of southern Africa.

Province of Southern Africa

During the Diocesan Convention of January 2004, the diocese of Washington voted to extend our companionship relationship from the Diocese of Cape Town to the entire Anglican Province of Southern Africa. We are very blessed to have one of our own actively involved in the Gospel in South Africa.

Anne Figge is an amazing women who has a deep desire to participate in the ministry of reconciliation. Anne is a peace maker. Trained by both her university course work and the Episcopal church, she responded to a call to go to South Africa in the summer of 2005.

We are so proud of Anne at St. Margaret's and so humbled that we play even a small part in her mission and calling.

Honduras

St. Margaret's portion in our Diocese's outreach to our companion Diocese of Honduras focuses on the Medical Clinic of Proteccion in the city of San Pedro Sula. For nearly a decade, St. Margaret's has committed financial assistance toward the salary of the clinic's director, Dr. Waldo Madrid, as well as for the purchase of medicine and supplies for the people that the clinic serves. If you would like to help in this ministry, please contact either Carlin or Elizabeth.
