Marie Reed School

St. Margaret's is blessed to participate in the support of the education of children at Marie Reed School. Parishoners are paired with needy students and they meet with their mentees on a regular basis to tutor and support them in areas like reading and mathematics. If you would be interested in getting involved, contact either Alexa or Betsy.

(This may not be current) This year we will again be providing Thanksgiving baskets for 75 of D.C.'s neediest families at the Marie Reed Learning Center. You may donate funds to purchase turkeys and/or shop for the other items that make up that baskets. A shopping list follows, and sign-up sheets are available in the parish hall. You may send your donation to the office, or put it in the offering plate with the notation "Turkeys" in the memo line. All items should be brought to the church no later than Sunday, November 21st so that Cathie Siders (Turkey Czarina) and crew can sort items for delivery to the school on Tuesday, November 23. Thank you!

Shopping List for Marie Reed Learning Center Thanksgiving Baskets: 1 - 5 pound bag of rice,1 bag of dried black beans, 2 cans of yams, 1 box stuffing mix, 1 packaged dessert for a family of six.

Episcopal Children's Center

St. Margaret's contributes to the support of children with emotional disabilities through contributions to the Episcopal Center for Children. The ministry takes on two major aspects. Annually we work in conjunction with other parishes to provide a month of freshly baked cookies to the children for snacks, and at Christmas we participate in the wrapping of gifts and the decorating of the center. Additionally, we provide manual labor to such activities as the preparation of bulk mailings and the collection of various product labels which allow the center to receive much needed supplies and equipment.

If you would like to help out in one or more of these activities, please contact Maude Katsenbach at 202.338.4053.
