Welcome to St. Margaret's!

It is a pleasure to welcome you to St. Margaret's website. We are an exciting, highly diverse community that reflects the myriad populations in our neighborhood and the greater Washington area. Our members come from Virginia and Maryland as well as from the District of Columbia. They are drawn by the energy generated when people of many different backgrounds, ages, ethnic origins and sexual orientations gather.

Our members are committed to outreach ministry and justice issues. In house, we host Charlie's Place, a program serving the homeless, that serves breakfast three days a week. We employ a street-worker, social worker and nurse to deliver other needed services. On an international level, we support a doctor who serves a mountain village in Honduras, and we are preparing to send a missionary to South Africa to participate ministries of reconciliation. Our people also support at least twenty other volunteer outreach programs in the DC metropolitan community.

We follow Holy Eucharist every Sunday and have an active retreat program. Each week we send the sacraments directly from the altar to those who are unable to join us for worship. Worship and prayer are central to our life as a parish. It is from the Eucharist celebrated at three services on Sunday and at Charlie's Place, and on special days throughout the church year that we gather the energy, commitment, and enthusiasm to live out our faith in the world.

We are always learning through our Sunday Forums, our On The Way bible study and Education For Ministry. Spiritual Companions are trained in a pilot program to be with those who are sick and shut in. We have an active Christian Formation program for children with Church School at both services for younger children and between services for our older students.

Last, but hardly least, we thoroughly enjoy being with one another. Laughter is the order of the day at our social gatherings and in our work together. St. Margaret's is a warm, welcoming and enthusiastic parish.

We'd love to have you visit with us!
